Welcome back, solar enthusiasts! PSC here, ready to take you on a deep dive into the step-by-step of one of our recent installations – a 9.68 kW solar installation in the picturesque Emu Heights, New South Wales.
This project, completed in just a single day, serves as a living testament to our team’s expertise, technical finesse, and unwavering commitment to providing sustainable energy solutions. Join us as we uncover the behind the scenes of this remarkable solar endeavour and gather insights into the fascinating world of solar energy.
Installation Overview
- 22 high-performance Trina 440 Watt panels (9.68 Kilowatts)
Trina panels are synonymous with high efficiency, reliability, and durability, making them the cornerstone of our commitment to harnessing the full potential of solar power.
- Enphase IQ8 AC Microinverters
Unlike traditional string inverters, the IQ8 AC Microinverters operate at the individual panel level, optimising energy production. This decentralised approach ensures that the system operates efficiently even in the face of shading or obstructions, providing a robust and reliable solar energy solution.
- iBoard
The iBoard serves as the nerve center, offering real-time insights into energy production, consumption, and system health. This seamless integration empowers homeowners with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions about their energy usage.
- Mounted with Schletter Racking
To ensure the longevity and structural integrity of our solar array, we rely on Schletter Racking for precision mounting. Schletter is synonymous with quality, providing a robust foundation for our solar panels. The racking system not only offers a secure and aesthetically pleasing installation but also facilitates the optimal orientation of panels for maximum sunlight exposure.
The collaboration of cutting-edge technology and top-notch equipment ensures optimal energy conversion and durability for years to come.
Installation Challenges
One of the unique challenges we faced was the terracotta roof, adorned with multiple hips, valleys, chimneys, vents, and even a satellite dish. Our initial assessment revealed the need for a strategic design to harness maximum solar potential while gracefully navigating these architectural nuances. Our goal is to empower the homeowner to tackle those substantial $600 to $800 quarterly bills with a bespoke solar solution.
Solar Design
Our team adopted a strategic approach, utilising the expansive Eastern roof face for harnessing morning energy, all while skilfully avoiding obstacles to enhance overall efficiency. With careful consideration given to the northern and western roof spaces, we aimed for a harmonious blend of aesthetics and functionality, ensuring a balanced energy output throughout the day.
Obstacle Avoidance (chimneys, vents, and a satellite dish)
Designing a solar system isn’t just about finding a spot for each panel; it’s a meticulous orchestration, especially when confronted with challenges like chimneys, vents, and even a satellite dish. These elements, often considered hindrances, become integral components in our solar installation process.
- Chimneys, with their protruding structures, and vents, dotting the roof-scape, are typically seen as obstacles. However, our approach turns them into assets. Each chimney and vent is seamlessly integrated into the solar design, becoming a part of the overall efficiency strategy rather than a challenge to overcome.
- The satellite dish, positioned as a focal point on the roof, could disrupt the uniformity of solar placement. Instead, we see an opportunity. By incorporating the satellite dish into our design, we not only maintain the aesthetic harmony of the roof but also enhance the solar system’s functionality.
Northern and Western roof space
Expanding our gaze to the northern and western roof spaces, careful consideration was given to aesthetics and functionality, ensuring a balanced energy output throughout the day. The system wasn’t just about efficiency; it was about creating a visually appealing solar landscape that seamlessly merged with the architectural nuances of the home.
Our approach isn’t just about solar panels on a roof. It’s about smart design that turns challenges into victories. From morning energy boosts to a dance around obstacles and a balanced look, we’ve got solar down to an art. Because when it’s simple, it just works. That’s solar made smarter by Penrith Solar Centre.
