Key Features of the Sigenergy SigenStor Solar System

The SigenStor solar energy system is a new solar inverter and battery combination. You can directly input energy from your solar panels into the battery for minimal efficiency losses. When combined with a bidirectional EV charger, you can even charge the SigenStor from your car.

Let’s dive into the details.

Integrated Design

The SigenStor solar system is designed with the user in mind. It combines five components into one unit. This all-in-one approach includes:

  1. Hybrid Inverter: Responsible for converting the direct current (DC) electricity generated by the panels on the roof into alternating current (AC) electricity that your home can use.
  2. Battery Storage: The modular, stackable battery units store excess energy when the sun is shining for use when it’s dark or during peak demand times. A solar battery will provide true energy independence and this one picks up the ball and runs with it, but we’ll get into that shortly.
  3. Battery Power Conversion System (PCS): Think of this component as a translator. It transforms the DC power stored in the battery modules into AC power that can be used in your home.
  4. Energy Management System (EMS): This is AI-powered consumption monitoring software. It intelligently manages the flow of energy by evaluating your real-time energy usage patterns and adjusting the battery to make the most of your savings by charging and discharging when you use it.
  5. Optional EV DC Charger: This optional feature provides direct DC charging for electric vehicles. While the charger can be AC-coupled, DC charging is much more efficient.

This integrated, modular design means that you’ll need less equipment, freeing up wall space and simplifying the installation process.

Sigenergy SigenStor Modular and Scalable Configuration

The exciting thing about the SigenStor solar system is how customisable it is. With stackable, modular components, you’ll have options for your solar system today and in the future.

Modular Design

Battery modules are available in 5kWh or 8kWh. These modules can be stacked to achieve your desired storage capacity.

It can range from as little as 5kWh or up to 48kWh (6 x 8kWh modules). Or you can stack 20 SigenStors stacked 6-high together for a total of 960kWh.

Please Note: At Penrith Solar Centre, we’re only offering the 8kWh modules. We feel 5kWh alone is too little storage for any Aussie household.

Scalable and Futureproofed

The hybrid inverter comes in single-phase and three-phase options. The single-phase SigenStor has two Maximum Power Point Trackers (MPPTs) and the three-phase version supports up to four strings.

Battery units can be added at a later date with each Energy Controller (inverter) supporting six battery modules.

The best news about the battery is that each battery module has its own Power Conversion System. This means you can add new battery modules to old ones with minimal headaches. They each operate separately from each other. This makes it easy to add more battery storage down the road.

Sigenergy SigenStor’s Advanced AI-powered Monitoring Features

One of our favourite features of this solar power system is the energy use monitoring platform. Each system is equipped with mySigen App. It provides real-time monitoring of energy production, consumption, and storage.

And like any energy use monitoring software, you’ll receive alerts for any issues with your system. With this much insight into your solar, you’ll be able to improve your energy use and quickly troubleshoot any problems.

Many customers who are new to solar might need a little help programming their system. Understanding your energy usage patterns and customising your system around them can have a bit of a learning curve. Even the most intuitive apps can be difficult for some.

mySigen App has an AI mode that’s been integrated with GPT-4. It observes how you use electricity and automatically takes control of your system. If you want it to, that is.

The mySigen App can automatically access information about your system, information about dynamic tariffs, and weather data.

It can use this information along with your energy use patterns, to import or export energy and charge and discharge the battery in order to save you money and protect your home in a blackout.

It’s pretty cool, actually. There’s nothing else like it in the solar industry.

Full Off-Grid Capability and Blackout Protection

If you want complete energy independence, SigenStor has you covered. This system isn’t just another battery; it’s designed to keep your home or business powered, no matter what’s happening with the grid.

Here’s how it works:

  • It can run completely off-grid with solar panels.
  • It pairs seamlessly with a diesel generator using a two-wire startup function.
  • It can operate as a grid-tied system with backup power.

Even in a total blackout, SigenStor keeps the lights on by using stored solar energy. Once the sun comes up, your panels will take over, powering your home and recharging the battery whether the grid is back or not.

For homeowners needing true three-phase backup, SigenStor is in a league of its own. Unlike other batteries, it supports synchronous three-phase backup. That means all three phases of your home will stay powered during an outage instead of just one.

If you have high-powered appliances like large air conditioning units or industrial equipment that rely on a three-phase supply, they’ll keep running smoothly without skipping a beat.

If you’ve been waiting for a three-phase backup solution that actually works, this is it.

Sigenergy SigenStor Safety Features

In any solar system, safety is the most critical consideration. The SigenStor has multiple safety features. After all, these systems hold a lot of energy. They need to run safely in your home.

The SigenStor takes safety seriously, with multiple built-in protections to keep things running smoothly and minimise any risks.

Here’s what makes the SigenStor one of the safer battery options on the market:

Temperature Monitoring – Batteries work best within a specific temperature range when it isn’t too hot or too cold. Extreme temperatures accelerate their natural degradation rate, and they start losing efficiency.

The SigenStor constantly monitors its internal temperature and adjusts as needed. This prevents overheating, power loss, or system shutdowns, keeping the system safe and reliable.

Internal Fire Extinguisher – This is a standout feature that most other battery brands don’t include. In the unlikely event of a battery-related fire, the SigenStor has an internal fire extinguisher that automatically kicks in to put it out before it spreads. It’s an extra layer of protection that gives homeowners peace of mind.

Short-Circuit & Surge Protection – We’ve all seen what happens when power surges hit: blown fuses, fried appliances, and, in worst-case scenarios, electrical fires. The SigenStor has built-in surge protection to shield the system from power spikes, whether from grid fluctuations, lightning strikes, or sudden electrical surges.

Safe Battery Chemistry (LFP Technology) – Not all batteries are created equal. The SigenStor uses Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery cells, which are inherently safer than standard lithium-ion options. LFP batteries don’t overheat as easily and last longer than other battery types.

With all these safety measures in place, the SigenStor is designed to be worry-free. It keeps itself cool, protected, and monitored 24/7. You can focus on enjoying clean solar power without stressing about potential risks.
